BDRCL: Proposed Bharuch – D= ahej BG Line: Industrial Development Expected Along the Project Line<= /b>

1.=       =              The Port of Dahej, in the Gulf of Khambat is progressively gaining importance both as a Port and as a convenient location for setting up new industries serving a large hinterland which includes the states of Rajastha= n, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi apart from Guja= rat. The developments taking place in Dahej are likely to transform the area into a major industrial complex in the next few years.
2.&n= bsp;            = ;      Dahej Port: Apart from the Ol= d Port where a berth is operated by the Gujarat Maritime Board there are also a nu= mber of independent jetties. M/S <= span class=3DSpellE>Hindalco has a jetty used for the import of Copper Concentrate, Rock Phosphate, Coal and Ammonia for their plant at Dahej and has capacity for handling other commercial = cargo also. Reliance IPCL which has an integrated Petrochemical Complex and Gujar= at Chemical Port Terminal Co. Ltd involved in handling and storage of chemicals also ha= ve their separate jetties for importing feedstock and LNG Petronet has as its own jetty and storage terminal for importing LNG. Adani Petronet= (Dahej) Pvt. Ltd. is const= ructing a new jetty with two berths for the import of Coal, fertilizer, Fertilizer Raw Material and Steel as well as for the export of Desiccated Oil Cake. Gujarat Maritime Board has also re= cently awarded a concession to M/s. Sterling Biotech regarding setting up a deep-w= ater Port between Dahej Old Port and Hindalco Jetty. This port is expected to be operational by 2012 and achieve a capacity level of 15 million tonnes by 2015.

3.      =              The Gujarat Maritime Board is also promo= ting a Mega Ship Yard Park along the northern bank of Narma= da River. There is already one Shipbuilding Yard being set up belonging = to M/s ABG Ship Yard. It is expected that along this river, another 4-5 = such yards would be developed and this would increase movement of steel and other raw materials needed for shipbuilding activity.

4.&n= bsp;            = ;      EXI= STING INDUSTRIES: A number of industries are already located at Dahej. These include Chemical and Petro-chemical industries viz. Reliance IPCL, BASF Styrenics L= td and Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Ltd. Hindalco = has a Copper Unit which produces Copper Cathodes and continuous cast copper rods.= The unit also produces Di-Ammonium Phospate and other Phosphatic Fertilizers. Another important industry is Welspun Ltd which has a SAW (Submerged Arc Welded) Pi= pe manufacturing unit. Hindalco already use rail transport for dispatch of fertilizer from Bharuch

5.&n= bsp;            = ;      Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region: In February 2009 the Central Government has approved the proposal for the setting up of a Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) at = Dahej. The PCPIR is a specifically deline= ated investment region to be used for a combination of production projects, publ= ic utilities, logistics, environmental protection, residential areas and administrative services. The purpose is to encourage global scale investmen= t in petroleum, chemical & petrochemical sectors to accelerate economic grow= th. As a part of the PCPIR OPaL promoted by ONGC and co-promoted by GSPC, is setting up a Petro-chemical plant at Dahej. The annual capacity of the plant shall be 1.1 MMTPA Ethylene, 340,000 tons = of propylene, 135,000 tons of benzene and 95,000 tons of butadiene. These prod= ucts are used as source materials in the plastics industry. A downstream unit wi= ll produce HDPE, LLDPE, Polypropylene, Butene-1, Benzene, Butadiene and associated products. Production will start in 2012.

6.&n= bsp;            = ;      The Dahej Indust= rial Estate is also likely to attract a number of industries to set up units. So= me of the industries who have evinced interest include Gujarat Fluorocarbons, = Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers, Meghmani Organics, Pidlite Industries, Godrej & Boyce, Saraswati Engineering and SE Forge Limited. The ONGC and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation have within the Industrial Estate jointly promoted the Dahej SEZ Company where the Anchor unit of the PCPIR viz ONGC Pe= tro additions Limited (OPaL) shall be located. The = Dahej SEZ is a share holder in the Bharuch Dahej Railway Company Ltd.

7.&n= bsp;            = ;      With a view to cater to the logistics requirements of the Existing industries and those that are expected to establish industries in the future a Logistics Park is proposed to be set u= p at Dahej. It is expected that facilities for road = and rail based receipt and dispatch of freight, container handling including stuffing and de-stuffing as well as warehousing will be available. Land has already been earmarked for the purpose. It is expected that cargo to and fr= om industries which do not have their own freight handling facilities will be handled at the Logistics Park.

8.&n= bsp;            = ;      In addition to developments at Dahej another Industrial Estate and SEZ is being set = up at Vilayat. Grasim Industries is in the process of setting up a u= nit on a 225 Ha plot with an investment of Rs 700 Crores. There are also proposals for setting up separ= ate Hydro-carbon and Engineering SEZs within the Vilayat Industrial Estate. Although outside the PCPIR area the= Vilayat industrial estate is within the catchment are= a of the Project Railway. In addition a number of other GIDC Industrial Estates = and Special Economic Zones already exist or are coming up in the vicinity in Bharuch district at Jhagadiya, Panoli and A= nkleshwar .
